Second Sabotage Incident in 24 Hours: Two Cement Blocks Placed on Railway Tracks, Disaster Averted by Alert Staff
In yet another alarming incident, an attempt to derail a train was foiled when two cement blocks, each weighing approximately one quintal, were discovered on the railway tracks near Ajmer, Rajasthan. The blocks were strategically placed one kilometer apart between Saradhana and Bangadh villages late Sunday night.
Two alert employees of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), Ravi Bundela and Vishwajeet Das, were the first to spot the obstructions. Realizing the potential danger, they swiftly reported the incident at 10:36 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the local police.
Upon reaching the scene, authorities found the cement blocks shattered, lying near the tracks. Thankfully, no suspicious activity was detected in the vicinity during subsequent joint patrols conducted by DFCCIL personnel and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
This disturbing incident occurred shortly after the Kalindi Express, en route from Prayagraj to Bhiwani, narrowly avoided an accident in Uttar Pradesh when it collided with a gas cylinder placed on the tracks. The force of the impact sent the cylinder flying 50 meters away, preventing a major mishap.
In response to the Uttar Pradesh incident, police have detained 12 individuals for questioning, though no concrete leads have yet emerged. Both incidents have raised serious concerns about the increasing number of attempts to sabotage railway lines.
Authorities remain vigilant, continuing to monitor rail routes to prevent further threats.
